Enjoy the twelfth sweet and sassy FSFF

We are proud to say that Free Spirit Film Festival is becoming a known name in the global film festival circuit. Ours is a small film festival, yet its high quality is seen in all aspects of our production. And it also reflected in the overwhelming number of film submissions we receive each year. The location in the scenic and serene Himalayan village of McLeod Ganj makes it even more attractive.

We have 21 interesting films from around the world, selected from more than 80 submissions. We had to leave out many good ones owing to the limited time. We wish them success in their endeavours, and congratulate those who have been selected for our festival. We could see the love and hard work they put into their films.

There are five feature-length films, and the rest are all short and super-short films, from many genres. All of them are unique, meaningful and entertaining. So none of them can be missed!

As in the past, thirteen awards will be given in best in categories such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, etc, decided by a grand jury. The audience will vote for the Audience Award.

To dedicate one’s life for a cause, particularly without expecting anything in return, is a sacrifice. Deb Jarrett’s dedication to rescuing the helpless animals in and around Dharamshala makes her stand out to receive the Free Spirit Award 2016. She founded the Dharamshala Animal Rescue in 2009.

I thank all the filmmakers who showed faith in us, our dedicated team members, and the local film enthusiasts for making this festival a memorable one.
